Last model of the year 2014. Although I complete it about a month ago, I didn't get to update it on my blog.

This was suppose to be a simple group build with another 2 friends of mine, but they haven't finish their kit yet... :< and at the same time Sggs Astray Group build.
The build was pretty straight forward, snap fitted and simple kitbashing(wasn't part of the plan).
Recently wanted to try more metallic colors like gold, steel and iron so Astray was a good kit to test it out.

GBF Try: Fumina Hoshino 3D Print

Click here for the CG render and wip.

This is my first time printing a full figure and it was a pleasant experience thanks to  3D Mako.
At first I thought it was pretty straight forward to get my work printed but it wasn't the case.
We went through a few iteration of test printing, meet up to further understand which are the areas to improve on and finally decided to print it out.

I want the model to be printed in parts, and I had a total of 13 parts at first.
The first test print was at the pelvis and waist area.

We met up to discuss what are the areas to improve for example, the scale of the kit is smaller, the peg I made wasn't as strong as I thought it will be.
Thus some parts are better to be printed as a whole for better weight distribution.

3D 고독한가정부 : 네이버 블로그

I found this concept art on Pinterest and I fall in love with it, it cute and very monster hunter look alike.
Concept art

I really enjoy converting this concept art into a 3d piece.
Here are more information regarding the artist. Unfortunately, I can't understand Korean thus I don't really know what the title mean.
I try google translator and it turn out to be from 고독한가정부 : 네이버 블로그 to Lonely maid : Naver Blog. Not too sure if it is the right title for this concept.

SD Neo Zeong GB @ HAW

There wasn't many entries this time but I felt like we spend quite a long time together sharing the methods and creative process. I guess maybe because the group was smaller it's easier to open up and share, at least for me... haha.

Wait... what that at the back?

GBF Try: Fumina Hoshino

This had been 3d printed. Click here for more info.
Took me about 4 to 5 weeks to complete this character from Gundam Build Fighter TRY.
I am not a anime kind of guy and I find sculpting anime character very challenging.
Everything was done in Zbrush using dynamesh, Zremesher and poly painted.
Posing was done using Transpose in T-posemesh.
Beauty render in Photoshop.
Plan to work on the 3d print for this character in the future.

Quick hard surface sculpt

Some very quick hard surface sculpt done during class demo and rendering methods in Zbrush for presentation.

Bleeding Orc

My 4th batch of students are finally getting started with Zbrush. Best time for me to do something fun while demonstrating how to use the software.

Another quick sculpt that I did using the free time I have when my students are working on their assignments in class.

Centaur's Escape

Another game model done in 2012.
That year, I just began my journey as a lecturer and time was really limit.
Having to juggle between review students work, lesson plans, gunpla and personal work was really tough.
The objective was to get use to using Zsphere and the new panel loop function in Zbrush 4R5.
Retopo was done in 3D Max, textures in Photoshop.

Hairfarm was use for rendering the grass.

Looking back, there are just so much more I can do to improve on this character or even presentation.

This was done in early 2014 where I start to get a hang out of Zbrush.
The objective was to better understand the workflow between 3d max and zbrush.
My plan was to create a full morph target for the face but due to time constant and work, I move on to focus on other aspect of Zbrush.

CGP Modellers' cohesion 2014

I usually tries to organize a few class outing once in a blue moon, but this is the first time combining 4 batches together.
The purpose of these cohesion was to bond the students, maintain a connection with the school and most importantly have fun together as friends.

This time we make our attempt to try out The Escape Artist at Prinsep Place and boy was it exciting.
No spoilers here to any of the room so no worries if you intend to play them.

SD Neo Zeong - Yoko's Custom

A relax and fun build to enjoy the simplicity of this kit. When the kit was first release that were tons of build idea that be found on the internet, some were really creative

I just want something simple and sexy if possible, with that I dig out a Revoltech Yoko from my stash... Couldn't bear to do any mod to the figure itself hoping that I can still display it as it is in future.

Zoids Group Build 2014

This year Zoids GB is organized by Let's Play
It was a short 3 hrs gathering but the energy level in the shop was pretty high.

Well, the number of entry this year might not be as many compare to the last but the atmosphere and quality won't lose out either.

Kämpfer Amazing - Gundam Model Kit Contest 2014

It has been a month since the last submission date and finally, we get to display our entry for Mid year... wait it no longer called mid year... it now Gundam Model Kit Contest... haha

Aside from improving on my skill, my secondary objective for this build was to make Kampfer Amazing AMAZING.
I want it to be an upgraded version of what we see from the anime, not just a kit by it self but as an overall presentation.

Check out the Wip before you enjoy the kit. :)

RX-0 Unicorn Gundam (destroy mode) theatrical exclusive review

I can't resist when it come to such theatrical box art. At first look, it reminds me of Drew Struzan, the guy that make movie posters like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Back to the future and Indiana Jones looks great.

Kämpfer Amazing - WIPs

I have always look forward to Monday just to watch Gundam Build Fighters, I like how they develop the char arc and episode 18 where we see how Meijin Kawaguchi turn out to be not as inbal from the first few episode.

After snap fitting the HG Kämpfer Amazing, I found out that certain joints wasn't that that great and the proportion of the upper torso was too short for my liking. So my plan was to first fix the proportion, make it slicker than before and move on from there.

Full Frontal bust sculpt

Squeeze in some time during class to sculpt this character.
More for taking a break from lecturing and away from some other CG work.

It would be a waste to just render a turntable so might as well do some thing more personal.

Render a closer view and some color correction was done on the character.
The bg was fill in with 2 of my past and favorite work.

Thought it will look pretty fun to have the image split into half.

Wondering which gundam character should I try sculpting next? Hmmm...

Saturday, 18 January 2014

First of all, thanks to Poison Monkey Toymaker and Waylander together with HAG/HAW for making this GB possible for all of us. Mechaman and Enterpise for the extra foods to fill up our empty stomach. This is by far the best GB we have, we have door gift, 18 unique JESTA entries, a few consolation prizes, 5 merit prizes, top 3 prizes and best of all... 1 photo booth. haha But yeah, I think most importantly we all get to meet up with follow hobbyist and learn from one another.

without further a do, here are all the entries.

Jesta GB - Jesta Evolution

I can say much except for how exciting this project was for me.
For every group build that I joined I always try to do something that I had never experiences or do before.

It all started out with a simple Jesta mix and match
And then things went a little bit crazy and started evolving
Which finally end up with this result and title
